Pictures tell a story that words cannot always convey. In a snapshot there is expression and depth that do not need words to relay the message. In 2014, I decided to participate in a photo shoot. I wanted to give a different face to what it looked like to undergo cancer treatment. I wanted to show the world that in spite of life's circumstances, there is still life to be lived and with God's strength, we could be bold enough to live it. Recently, in 2020 I sat for another photo shoot. I simply wanted some updated pictures of myself. What I discovered is that God gave me yet another story. One that did not require words. I had forgotten many of the photos and poses from my shoot in 2014. I had long forgotten the many poses. I had put out of my mind how tired I felt that day and all of the personal issues flowing in my mind during that shoot. While looking through those old photos, I was surprised to see how many poses were very similar to the poses in the more recent shoot. When I look at the before and after photos, I see a story only God could write. A story of healing and growth, physically, mentally and spiritually. Who is that girl? She is a woman living her life. She is bold, confident and free! |
